The IEEE-USA is our National Professional Organization, and it is a great organization. It has goals to be a greater organization, but you and I can’t accomplish all its goals by ourselves, we must team with other Professional Organizations. As a Doer I can do this. I find good ideas and grow them into accomplishments. I have helped over the years to successfully accomplish the following as an IEEE volunteer:
- myIEEE
- IEEE.tv
- Development of a Seed Grant part of the New Initiatives Program
- Helping lead SC 2002 & 2005, the two best Sections Congresses yet held
- The Changes/Simplification of the IEEE Membership application procedures
- Bringing new people forward as candidates for elected and appointed positions
- The Student Ethics Competitions
- Pre-University IEEE Clubs
- The formation of the Career Services Committee
- The Blue Ribbon Committee in 2000’s proposal for a Member Benefit Organization
- First Chapters Chair of IEEE Social Implications of Technology Society in 1982-85
- First Professional Activities Chair of SSIT in 1982-85
- Northern Virginia/Baltimore/Washington SSIT Chapter Founding Chair in 1982-84
I will continue to take good ideas and grow the IEEE-USA for the future.
